Since 2018, the supplements of Heart and Barbell can be found on the market. Benedict Regenstein, the founder of Heart and Barbell, has made it his mission to provide athletes with the optimal supplements.
The story of Heart and Barbell begins in Berlin. There, Benedict Regenstein discovered his passion for sports from the USA at “Hauptstadt CrossFit”. When he moved back to his home in Paderborn, he decided to found his own CrossFit Box.
As a result, the former box owner, who has now sold his box, dealt intensively with the topic of supplements to find out which products he could recommend to his athletes. But he didn’t really find what he was looking for on the market. “So I said without further ado, I just do it myself and make sure that only the best raw materials are used in these products.”
About scientific studies on the optimal supplements
Said and done. Regenstein sat down at his desk and began researching. “Actually, I come from the sport of swimming. But that’s why I’ve always been very well-read when it comes to strength training. I then benefited from this,” says Regenstein. The Paderborner, who had previously supplemented creatine, omega-3 and vitamins D3 and K2 himself, also acquired his further knowledge of supplements himself through scientific studies. “Back then, I bought the supplements individually, which became expensive over time. That’s why it was important to me with my products to ensure very good quality on the one hand, but also a fair price.”
In close cooperation with CrossFit athletes and coaches, Regenstein created products that should meet the highest demands and goals. And three years ago, the time had come. Regenstein founded Heart and Barbell with the active support of his wife. “The first product in the shop was Omega-3 with D3 and K2. Then you had three micronutrients in one capsule.” Over time, several more products were added. Since the beginning of this year, Heart and Barbell has been offering a booster with creatine
But not only the assortment grew over time, but also the team of Heart and Barbell. In mid-2019, the awareness via social networks increased abruptly. “My wife and I packed packages into the night to take them to the post office the next day. That went on for a short time, but at some point, it just became too much.” At the end of 2019, Regenstein hired three employees who actively supported him. He currently has two employees in his team.
High quality for top performance
“In the beginning, my vision was to be able to offer athletes exactly what they need. And that should have the highest quality, but also be cost-effective,” emphasizes Regenstein. Furthermore, the products should contribute to the health of the athletes, support their immune system, and contribute to their regeneration. “Right from the start, I wanted to offer ambitious athletes something they could take without having to worry about whether the quality was good. Because Heart and Barbell wants to live up to this highest standard itself.”

Although Heart and Barbell has only launched three products on the market, a few more are planned. “We are growing slowly, but there is a reason for that. We want to offer our customers the perfect composition and that simply takes time. That’s why, for example, we don’t have whey in our range yet, because we’re not yet one hundred percent satisfied with the formula.”
Optimizing performance, energy balance and regeneration
Regenstein has set itself the task of providing athletes with the best possible care. His vision is also made clear directly on the website of Heart and Barbell.
And Regenstein is far from finished with his visions. “For the future, I hope that Heart and Barbell will come into focus even more if you want to get very good quality for fair money. I want people to know when they buy products from Heart and Barbell that they don’t have to worry about quality.”
